Crowns & Bridges

A crown is a covering that fits over the tooth to provide a durable and natural looking restoration. Crowns are used to protect the remaining tooth structure of a damaged tooth or for purely aesthetic reasons--to change the shape, color or appearance of your teeth. Crowns can be made of different materials; porcelain, porcelain fused to metal, or gold. The doctor will discuss with you which type of crown will function best for you, while adhering to the aesthetic principles that keep your smile beautiful. This procedure often takes two visits. At the first visit, the doctor will prepare the (damaged) tooth and craft a customized, natural looking temporary crown. In approximately four weeks, you will return for the second visit to cement the completed crown. A properly prepared crown can last 15-30 years with consistent home hygiene care and regular office cleanings.
